My alias is Riotblade and I’m an anime enthusiast. I would not call myself a weeaboo or otaku, mainly because I’m not. I am simply an enthusiast. My room is not packed with anime merchandise and I do not blast Japanese music all day. I was born in the US of A with Chinese ancestry, so I speak English and Chinese, not Japanese.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, you’re probably wondering what Suppai means. Is it English, Chinese or Greek? What’s this foreign sounding word that looks like a combination of Supper and Oppai? To be frank, Suppai is a Japanese word that has nothing to do with Oppai (although a little bit with supper). Suppai simply means “sour” in Japanese.
Why am I using “sour” for the name of a blog you ask? What, you didn’t ask? Well, I’m going to tell you anyways. I’ve finished a cute anime recently (kawaii in weeaboo) called Mahoraba Heartful Days. The main character loves making a pickled snack called Umeboshi. Everytime a character eats one of these wrinkled fruits, they would squint there eyes (hah, asians) and say “Mmmmm, SUPPAI!” in their adorable voices.
I spent around 1 hour pondering and asking my fellow anime enthusiasts for naming ideas to no avail. While walking around furiously in my house, I noticed that there was a box of pickled plums, so I threw the whole shebang into my mouth. Before I knew it, I squinted my eyes and went “Mmmm SUPPAI!”. That was when it hit me– a revelation of ideas in the same fashion that it always does to a certain symbiological Robert Langdon. Okay, the last bit was fabricated, but I did receive a punch from a guy called idea!
With all jokes put aside, I do like writing. Although my English by all means not perfect, I wanted to write an anime-based blog. I am currently a college student who lives in California with nothing better to do with his time. I have nothing more to add to this, and I may update it in the future. Please check back here for more interesting tidbits about myself and by all means, please shove grammar mistakes in my face!
